“Professional” artists are complete failures at anatomy and should never pick up a pencil again until they figure out how to draw women without destroying their skeletal structure.
I’m not a professional, but even I know that Wonder Woman, no matter how powerful she is should be dead because her spine is broken in at least 10 places and her ribcage is twisted into a gelatinous twizzler.
Learn how to draw you incompetent fuckall.
So I was all “Hmm, not bad” until I hit the fullview links and physically recoiled from my screen.
Seriously, though, I thought ‘oh that’s not bad what are they on about’
And then I clicked the top picture
“OH GOD WHYYYYYYYYYY”
yeah what they said, i was like “what the fuck are you talking about? her chest would just be a bit more angled, wouldn’t it?” and then i clicked it and just about threw my mom’s netbook
CLICK FULL VIEW GUYS OKAY
THEN
YOU WILL UNDERSTAND
the top looked so good………
then i saw fullview
a single tear is shed
o wow i was like “theres nothing wrong??” and then i clicked fullview too
woW
god
This is called stylizing something. It’s not a big deal, guys. It’s a drawing- and it’s gorgeous, whether it’s anatomically correct or not.
Obviously the artist knows that nobody can do this physically and that it’s incorrect anatomically. So what? It’s a good piece of artwork.
People fail to realize anatomy is not the most important thing when it comes to art. I didn’t say it’s not important but not the most important. If anything proportions are far more important and if all comics were drawn in a realistic style they would be boring as shit and although artwork does not make for a good story, good story with an interesting style does tend to make things stand out.
This even goes beyond comics. Cartoons, video games, etc also fall under this.
Take Team Fortress 2. Big hands, impossibly shaped skulls, etc. Heavy has tiny ass legs, however proportions line up.

And to tell professionals that they should never pick up a pencil ever again considering it’s most likely their source of income is a little kinda rude.
In a way, I agree: your style does not have to be super realistic to be a good style, or part of a good piece; in fact, I dare say some of the best character designs I’ve seen have been pretty heavily stylized.
BUT
But that argument has no bearing here because this isn’t really stylization. Or more appropriately, it’s just really dumbass stylization.
Look at the rest of the piece.

Compare Wondy to the other characters? Notice something? I suppose, you could argue she is stylized in this piece, but then what of the other characters? Why aren’t they appropriately stylized?
“Oh but they’re stylizd in a more masuline way!”
But Wondy is a more muscular, more “masculine” woman. She’s no Hulk, but she’s got some ass-kicking arms, no doubt. So why wasn’t she stylized in the more “masculine”? Why emphasize her boobs/butt, which have no bearing on either her character, what she’s actually supposed to be doing, or reflect in any way the plot of the book this was drawn for?
Or for that matter, why weren’t the other characters stylized in the same rubber snake spine way? It’d make Wonder Woman look much less out of place, add harmony to the piece.
Wonder Woman ends up looking like a cartoon character in comparison to the other figures. Which, if that’s what they’re going for, great! but seeing as I know enough about the mythos to know that Wonder is pretty much a normal human being (In anatomy mind you, not ability or personality), so there’s no excuse there.
So tl;dr : Yes stylization is a-okay, but this artist did it in a very artistically wrong and gender-eqality wrong way.
The two men are entirely stylized. Look at their fucking biceps! They’re as big as their heads. The only time they get that big is if the man is a damn body builder.
There’s a reason it’s called Superhero Anatomy. If anyone looking at this thinks the men aren’t stylized, then they’re as blind to gender and stylization as the artist is.
I’d say the only problem is that Wonder Woman is in the “Strong Female Heroes” pose where her boobs and butt are both showing.
(Also, I swear by Odin’s balls that if anyone messages me or reblogs with with a Google link for false equivalency, I will hunt them down and give them a Christmas punch in the throat.)
