DAY 21 - Favorite Boss Battle
Ramza vs. Wiegraf - One-on-One
I couldn’t find a good video of the fight that used the correct tactics and wasn’t kinda power-levelled or hacked. So, here’s a hacked version. The only hacking here, however, is that the main character is level 1. Everything else in this video is legit.
This fight is so epic and so difficult, there are people who prep for it at the beginning of the game. They do this by choosing Ramza’s Zodiac Sign so he is either matched with Wiegraf or to be completely opposed to Wiegraf.
Prep work before the fight, for me at least, are as follows:
-Chameleon Robe: Absorbs holy damage. The AI of the game thinks that the holy sword abilities are holy elemental damage, even though they aren’t (long story), so equipping this robe prevents Wiegraf from using said abilities. This is kind of the corner stone item for Ramza in this fight.-Auto Potion: His attacks deal about 70-100 damage per hit. So, getting Auto Potion with Ramza at high Bravery, preferable at 97, is a must. You can use Hamedo/First Strike as shown above, but it’s not necessary. Just make sure you only have X-Potions in your inventory. Anything lesser will result in only a Hi-Potion being used, which isn’t great.
Optional
-Winged Boots/Float: This will prevent Wiegraf from using Earth Slash/Shockwave against you.-Concentrate: This will make sure your melee attacks always hit.
-Math Skills: This could help you kill him and his later form, Belias/Velius easier. Combine with Holy, Flare, Demi, or Demi 2 for best results.
-Blood Sword: As shown above, pairing this with Hamedo can be used to game the game’s back-attacking system. I generally prefer Auto Potion with whatever the best sword I can have at that point.
My tactics for this fight:
Use tailwind, and shout. Every turn. Run around in circles, avoiding Wiegraf, until you are taking 8 to 9 turns every time he takes one. shout until your power is about nineteen billion. run up to Wiegraf. Hit him. Battle over.
I think you mean Accumulate/Focus because your don’t get Scream/Shout until Chapter 4. Unless you’re a cheater. My only problem with that strategy is Wiegraf can get lucky and his you with a big crit or something. After all, 9 turns of dodging around him seems like a long time for something to go wrong.
