My blurry gameface and favorite cards. I like to either be stone emotionless or jokey and non-serious…or both.
My favorite cards over the years are as follows, with reasoning:
Horseshoe Crab: The combination with Hermetic Study was such an awesome, simple combo wayback. I even have a Pauper deck around it right now.
Barrin, Master Wizard: While not a great card, he looks like David Warner! Plus, between me and my younger brother, we had countering wizards in the game from our favorite sets then (think, the 90s!). Mine was Saga, so Barrin, his was Exodus, so Errtai, Wizard Adept (the better card). I had David Warner, he had some hair-dyed punk. Then I quit Magic as a major hobby with Mercadian Masques. (I’m back a bit now but it’s not a huge, huge hobby.)
Stampeding Wildebeests: The cornerstone to my favorite all time deck: Stupid Green. Used to bounce various creatures that had utility like Spike Weavers, Spike Feeders, Wall of Blossoms, Wall of Roots, and others. It’s actually still quite viable on a casual level, and could probably be mixed together with new things, like Cloudstone Curio or some creatures. They even reprinted the ability on a new card in 2013.
Momir Vig, Simic Visionary: My favorite newer-ish card. A green-blue elf wizard that tutors like crazy. I’ve got a half-done Commander deck based around him, and he’s a feature in my current Graft/Proliferate just-for-fun deck. Too bad he’s dead.
I actually just finished the Commander deck and will probably post it in the near future.
