As of this morning’s episode, I think I’ve been able to piece together what happened 42 years prior to the events of The Legend of Korra.
Idea (SPOILERS): If Tarllok is Yakone’s son and Yakone had his bending taken away…what if Amon is Yakone, having reverse engineered Aang’s technique in exile, returned to take vengence on benders. Also…what if Tarllok and Amon are working together because of this? It make a pretty dramatic reveal for Amon and Tarllok are chessmastering both sides of the bender/non-bender problems.
Another Idea (Probably not original, just a guess I’m sure someone else has had): I think Amon is going to let Korra get fully, spiritually realized as an Avatar and force her into the Avatar State so he can remove her bending at that point in an attempt to stop the Avatar cycle. How crazy and terrifying would that be?
