Radio Interview Tomorrow

idrawnintendo:

Tomorrow I’m going to be interviewed on the Craig Fahle show on WDET @ 11:00am here in Detroit, about idrawnintendo, my cartoons, and going “viral” with your art.

If you want to tune in, you can listen online here: http://www.wdetfm.org/

I can’t believe that I’m getting interviews and stuff. This is ridiculous and awesome.

~Z

Wait, wait, wait, you’re from the Detroit area?! So am I!

Oh, and ‘grats on the radio interview!

“For women, getting angry is socially unacceptable, even when the anger is over violence, discrimination, misogyny, and other forms of oppression. Anger is unacceptable because angry women are women in touch with their passion and power, especially in relation to men, which threatens the entire patriarchal order. It’s unacceptable because it forces men to confront the reality of male privilege and women’s oppression and their involvement in it, even if only as passive beneficiaries. Women’s anger challenges men to acknowledge attempts to trivialize oppression with “I was only kidding.” And women’s anger is unacceptable to men who look to women to take care of them, to prop up their need to feel in control, and to support them in their competition with other men. When women are less than gracious and good-humored about their own oppression, men often feel uncomfortable, embarrassed, at a loss, and therefore vulnerable.” —

Allan G. Johnson (via loveyourchaos)

This rings SO true!

(via radicallane)

Or they ask “Why are you so angry?” “Who hurt you?” or find other ways to trivialize the expression of anger or disagreement.

(via peecharrific)

or tell you you’re overthinking things or try to change the subject immediately.

(via siryns)

Why exclusively apply this to women? It’s not socially acceptable to be angry whether you’re a male or female.

I’ll start off by saying that I understand the source of anger mentioned. Let’s just get that out of the way. It’s not like I don’t understand anger having a source of oppression. What I’m saying, is from a purely asexual, emotional standpoint: you cannot get angry at anything without someone questioning it. However trivial or important, there’s going to be someone or someplace that doesn’t find the anger acceptable, even if it is justified. There will be some “offended” idiot, probably someone who doesn’t see the problem with the source of anger, giving a look or going to tell a person in authority.

I wield anger like a blade. I know where to put it and when to use it. I know this, because if I ever get angry at something or someone, I can’t just express it in whereever I am. I can’t shout at barking, annoying, possibly dangerous dogs because it’s not socially acceptable. I can’t angrily tell a parent to shut their whiny little crotch fruit up, because it’s not socially acceptable. I can’t get angry at incompetent restaurant and/or store employees because it’s not socially acceptable.

If I display anger to a male, then it’ll be analyzed as “male/male fighting over pride.” Anger at a woman is “abuse”. Anger at a Republican government fucking things up is “UnAmerican”. Anger at a Democratic government fucking things up is an “-ism” of some kind, despite the fact that I’m far left leaning.

So, while I understand the reason for the quote above, I just want to point out that displaying anger is not socially acceptable whether you’re male or female.

Last thing. Women should realize there’s something like this for men, too. We can’t show weakness or sadness AT ANY POINT EVER. I’m not joking. Crying is unacceptable as a male, even with sensitive friends. Because of social upbringing, I haven’t cried in like a decade. Not even at my relatives funerals. It’s a little ridiculous. I think the only time I’ve ever seen acceptable crying as a man is that like “single man-tear when a hero dies” thing.

You don’t sound like a creeper or suck-up. Thank-you! I rarely get praise for it.

(BTW, that wasn’t my art on that previous post, that was Wayne Reynolds, official Pathfinder artist.)

Toes and Penises are the hardest things to draw for me

trickybunnie:

:|…OTL

Penises have always been easy for me to draw, though I won’t post any. I’ll just tease about posting.

Toes…they’ll still look funny sometimes.
